THE RIOS SISTERS
1. How did you get the name and who discovered the Rios Sisters? At birth, Rios is our last name and we are identical Twins. Mickey Garcia discovered us.
2. At what age did you become interested in singing? Since we can remember, we’ve always sang, in church, for my family, in school etc.
3. Who and what inspired you to become singers? It’s a calling we were born to sing and perform, it’s our passion!
4. What type of music do you like to sing? Was Freestyle what you always wanted to sing? We enjoy all genres of music, dance is one of our favorites. We would like to sing Salsa.
5. Have you worked with other recording artists? No, but would definitely like to.
6. Have you ever remixed an original song? No, but would consider it.
7. Do you write your own music? Yes, we are singer songwriters!
8. One of your greatest hits “I Don’t Want You Back”, does that reflect on any of your past experiences? Actually yes, it reflects a disappointment in a past relationship, the message being to forgive and let go.
9. I can relate to the song “You”, you ladies sent out a beautiful message… is that what you set out to do? To send positive messages through your music? Absolutely, our purpose as songwriters is to uplift and empower oneself!! Especially women!
10. Freestyle music was slowly fading but a big thanks to the many artists who have come together to make a comeback, are the Rios Sisters one of them? And do you believe that Freestyle will ever be the same as in the 80’s? Most definitely, good music cannot be contained, it is timeless.
11. What are the Rios Sisters doing now? Are you still singing still performing? Yes, we are singing, performing and creating new music.
12. Any projects in the works? Yes, new music coming out soon!
13. Who in the music industry do you look up to and why? We admire all fellow Freestyle artists and we like Beyonce, Shakira, India Arie, Madonna, to name a few.
14. Any words of wisdom for your fans? Never give up on your dreams and be true to yourself!
